Richard “Dick” Bahnick, 78 of Burton Township, died at home on August 3, 2018 after a 14-month battle with cancer. He remained upbeat and positive throughout. He was born June 27, 1940 on the family farm where he remained his entire life. He was part owner of the family business Geauga Tractor Sales in Burton. His hobbies were landscaping his property at his home in Burton Township and restoring and showing classic cars. His love and talent for restoring cars, showed up in the several hundred trophies and awards that he was so proud of. He also loved spending the winters at his second home in Florida where he also showed his “63” Chevy Nova.
Richard is survived by his wife and constant companion of 40 years, Leanne (Pealer), his son Ken (Wendy) Bahnick of Lewis Center, OH, his daughter Connie (Karl) Smith of Orlando, FL; his grandchildren Noah and Alyssa Bahnick and Brooke and Alan Smith, adopted son Kevin Suszynski of Burton, one nephew Steven Backiel of Painesville, and many close friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Alice (Osmond) Bahnick and his brother Rod Bahnick.
Calling hours will be held 12 – 4:00 PM and 5:00 – 8:00 PM with a Celebration of Life at 8:00 PM on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Russell-Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 West High St., Middlefield, Oh 44062. The Graveside Service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, August 11 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Burton Township. Friends may dress casually at Dick’s request.
