On the morning of January 24, 2018, in her 80th year, Patricia Arden Thomas (Pat) passed away peacefully at University Hospital Geauga Medical Center. She lived graciously and courageously with cancer for nearly three years before the disease took her life.
Born on February 5, 1938, Pat was a lifelong resident of Mesopotamia and graduated from North Bloomfield High School.
Before retiring after 24 years as Fiscal Officer for the Township of Mesopotamia, she worked at American Welding and Seven Seventeen Credit Union. She will be fondly remembered for her enthusiasm for life, her love for animals and her devotion to her friends.
Pat is survived by her faithful furry companion Sam (Sampson), her cousins, Don Thomas of Middlefield, Jim Thomas of Painesville, Tony Gates, Harley Gates, Denny Gates, Paul Hurd, all four of Kinsman, Dean Hurd of Gassaway, WV, Kenny Hurd of Howland, Jaunita Shick of Leavittsburg; her three “little sisters” (The Sprague girls, Debbie, Vonnie & Joyce). Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her cousins, Chuck (Helen) Thomas, Gilberta, Galey; Dick Gates, Lynn Hurd, Bob Heath, Gerald Thomas, Robert Burnett, William Burnett, and Betty Burnett.
Pat will be laid to rest next to her beloved Father and Mother, Lyle Wilmer (Tommy) Thomas and Edra E. (Wilcox) Thomas in Fairview Cemetery, Mesopotamia, Ohio.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 27th at 11:00 am at the Fairview Cemetery Chapel, 8820 St. Rt. 534, Mesopotamia, OH 44439, with a Celebration of her life immediately following at Noon. Family and friends are invited to dinner at the Mesopotamia Town Hall after the service.
