Matt Alan Marks, 61 of Middlefield, passed away at his home on Friday, September 28, 2018. He was born on December 20, 1956 in Dover, Ohio. He was the son of the late Donald and Norma Jean (Manley) Marks. Matt received his bachelor’s degree in Education and Music at Youngstown State University. His passion was music. After college he moved to Burton and then Middlefield. He was a Music teacher and the band and choir director at Berkshire High School for 28 years. After retirement he worked part time for Cardinal High School for the Band Dept. and Marching Band. Matt was the advisor of the Thespians, Drama Club, and spring musical director at Berkshire School and a member of the Lake and Geauga 4-H Camp.

Matt is survived by his long-time partner Sheila Boros of Hiram; his four-legged friend “Molly”; and several Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.
Calling hours will be held 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Russell-Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 West High St., Middlefield, OH 44062. A Celebration of his life will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home. A Graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018 at Dover Burial Park, 5651 N Wooster Ave., Dover, OH 44622. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your favorite Pet Rescue Center or Humane Society.
