Leona Hanson, 97 of Mesopotamia retired from this life on earth and ascended into Heaven to be with God, her husband, and daughter; on Thursday November 8, 2018. She was born August 5, 1921 to Philo and Grace Wildman.
In 1941 she married Jack Hanson and they shared fifty-seven years together until his death in 1997.
Leona was a bookkeeper for Ohio Hardwood Lumber for twenty-one years retiring in 1991. She was a member of Mesopotamia Methodist Church. She loved gardening, flowers, baking and reading. Behind Leona’s smile hides a lot of scars from wounds that have been slow to heal. Life was not always easy or like she planned, but she never gave up.
Leona is survived by her daughter, Donna (Bill) Medwick; grandson Dwayne (Terri) Barbe, Rob (Joanie) Barbe; great grandchildren, Brent, Brad, Brandon, and Calynn Barbe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, daughter Bonnie, brother Owen Wildman, sisters, Hazel Iden, Icy Oberacher, and Ruth Hites.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at the Russell-Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 W. High St. Middlefield, OH 44062, from 11:00 AM until the time of her service at 12:00 PM with Pastor John Bramley will be officiating.
Her family suggests in place of flowers contribution be made in the form of donations to Mesopotamia United Methodist Church, PO Box 92, Mesopotamia, OH 44439.
