Irene M. (Urbanski) Gotthard

February 5, 1926 ~ March 9, 2018 (age 92)

Irene M. (Urbanski) Ohtola Gotthard, 92, longtime resident of Hambden, Ohio, passed away at her daughter’s home in Orwell on Friday, March 9, 2018.She was born in Cleveland on Feb. 5, 1926, daughter of Anton and Alexandria E. (Celenski) Urbanski. After high school she was a hairdresser. She later became a landlord. Irene was a member of the Word of Faith Church in Chardon; CSA; the Hambden Grange Hall and volunteered at the Geauga Fairgrounds Grange Hall. She enjoyed polka music and having a nice cold beer occasionally. She especially enjoyed being with her family and friends. The family would like to give a special thank you to Grace Hospice and to Dave Dowling.

Irene is survived by her loving children; Richard (Linda) Gotthard, Michael (Xuyen) Gotthard, Marcia (Dave Dowling) Vaughn, and Alicia Gotthard; her daughter in law Patricia Ohtola; 19 grandchildren, Tamela (Mark) Aman, April (Gene) Stilley, Crystal (John) Filidoro, Jamie Spencer, Brandy Gotthard, Jennifer Gotthard, Andrew Gotthard, Adam Gotthard, Cheraty Gotthard, Mark Gotthard, Adam Gottard, David Gotthard, Jeff Phillips, Melissa Wayman, Kim Gotthard, Kenneth Nadack, Teena Vaughn, Brian Bakerton, and Missy Vaughn; 27 great grandchildren, Abigail and Spencer Erickson, Aiden and Ethen Griffin, Ashton Gotthard, Brandon Fleming, Andrew, Adam, David, and Kim Gotthard, Nevaeh, Jack and Angelica Jackson, Brileigh and Brooks Bakerton, and Seth, Blake, and Bailey Bolden, CJ Stilley, James Stilley, Kim Farnsworth, Ian and Sarah Tankersley, Mark Jr, Sean, and  and Jessica Aman, and Antonio Filidoro; and her 6 great-great grandchildren, Cooper, Marcus, Jace, and Xander Aman, Andrew and Daniel Farnsworth. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Toivo Ohtola and her second husband Richard Gotthard; her son Kenneth Ohtola; her parents; her two brothers, Ed and Tony; and her two sisters, Wanda Chapman and Virginia Body.

A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Russell-Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 West High St., Middlefield, OH 44062. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Hospice, 7314 Industrial Park Blvd., Mentor, OH 44060.
