Helen Marie Brazil, 93 longtime resident of Burton, passed away Wednesday morning, May 9, 2018 at her home with her family by her side. She was born on July 18, 1924 in Crabtree, PA, daughter of Ernest and Mary (Sakolsky) Chmelarsky. Helen married James E. Brazil July 19, 1945. They were married 36 years before he passed away in 1981. “They are together again”. She was a “Rosie the Riveter” during the war and worked many places. She retired from Great Lake Cheese Co. in 1986.
She was a member of the Women’s Relief Corp in West Farmington. Helen loved to travel, crochet and do crafts. She especially loved being with all her family. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Helen is survived by her son Jim and his wife Janet Brazil of Burton; her sister Bertha (Herman) Beyer; eight grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; her two daughters, Jacqueline Sherman and Judy Shreve Bosley; her parents; and her brother Joseph Chmelarsky.
Calling hours will be held 12:00-2:00 PM with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Russell-Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 West High St., Middlefield, OH 44062.
