Edwin Thomas SlyAugust 30, 1938 ~ December 6, 2017 (age 79)
Edwin T. Sly 79 from Mesopotamia Ohio passed away suddenly Wednesday December 6, 2017 at UH Geauga Hospital. He was born August 30, 1938 in Windsor to the late Jesse and Emma (Finch) Sly. He went on to boot camp in the US Army.
He worked for the Local 18 Operating Engineers Union and was an operator/paver until his retirement in 2000. He was a tinkerer and could fix anything that anyone brought to him. He loved to fish and work on his lawn mowers. He had the uncanny ability to take a dollar bill and make rings from them, draw large eared monkeys, and color with or without his grandchildren.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Janet (Morrison) Sly whom he married January 19, 1963. His children, Deborah (David) Jenkins, Kimberlie Sly, Suzzette (Scott) Hinkle, Kenneth Sly; sister, Norma Byler, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son Edwin Thomas Sly Jr., siblings, Dale, Mary Ellen Jones, Beatrice Hatch, Betty Kazuk, Jesse, and Don.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM Friday, December 8, 2017 at Russell-Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 W. High St. Middlefield, OH 44062. A Celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the Funeral Home. He will be buried in Fairview Cemetery, Mesopotamia at a later date.
