Betty J. Roose, 87 of Middlefield, formerly of Mentor, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Briar Hill Care Center. She was born on August 6, 1931 in Dalton, Georgia, daughter of John and Gertrude (Brown) Black. She was married to David “Corky” Roose who died in 1997. Betty was a homemaker and then for ten years she was a Pre School Teacher for KinderCare in Mentor. She was a member of the Dukes Club in Cleveland, enjoyed crocheting, reading books, cooking, and loved watching the Law and Order SVU series. She especially loved being with her family who will miss her dearly.
Betty is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Roose and David (Vicky) Roose, three daughters, Jacqueline (Daniel) Gallagher, Lori (Frederick) Schultz, and Nancy (Michael) Roose, 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, her brother Dean Black, and her sister Shirley (Frank) Schmidt; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband David; two grandchildren, Ryan and Jessica Roose, her parents, two brothers, Melvin and Don Black, and her sister-in-law Carol Black.
A Celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, October 27th at the First United Methodist Church, 14999 S State Ave, Middlefield, OH 44062.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Rescue Village or to Western Reserve Hospice.
