Karen Jean Bland

Karen Jean Bland, 65 of West Farmington passed away at her home Saturday, August 12, 2017 with her family at her side.  She was born September 28, 1951 in Warren, Ohio the daughter of Elizabeth Szabo-Jadloski-Keeley and step-father Donald Keeley.  Karen was a 1969 graduate of Joseph Badger High School and attended Youngstown State University and Dana School of Music.  She was employed at Packard Electric Division in Warren, Ohio where she met her future husband, David Bland; they were married on May 23, 1981. 

 

Karen was active in several churches; served as a Sunday School teacher; was a school board member of Bristol Schools for 8 years; employed at Chardon Day Care and Johnson Rubber Co. in Middlefield, Ohio; and taught music lessons in her home for 2 years.  She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and making homemade cards.  She loved spending time with her family especially her granddaughter Morgan. 

 

She will be dearly missed by her husband of 36, years, David Bland of W. Farmington, son, Jon (Tabetha) Bland of W. Farmington, daughter, Andrea (Mike) Sobinovsky, mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Keeley of N. Bloomfield, a brother, Larry Jadloski of Selverton, Ore., her sister Vicki (Chris) Porter of North Bloomfield; 1 granddaughter, Morgan Bland and a new grandson expected in December; many nieces & nephews.  She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Donald Keeley, brothers, Dennis and Gary Jadloski, and her grandparents, Elizabeth and Daniel Szabo.

Per Karen’s wishes no services will be held but please take time to spend with your family and loved ones as that was Karen's favorite thing to do. And to also watch for yellow butterflies as Karen told family she would be a yellow butterfly watching over us, in which yellow butterflies appeared at her residence very shortly after her passing.
