Jennie E. Tropf (nee Ricker) 74, passed away June 11, 2017 at UH Geauga Medical Center. She bravely fought breast cancer and lived many years with Parkinson’s disease. She was born November 27, 1942 at Dr. Corey’s Hospital in Chardon to the late Carl and Ina Ricker. A longtime resident of Middlefield, Jennie grew up in the Burton/Troy area. She graduated from Berkshire High School in 1961.
She was a loving wife, mother, and aunt. She worked in the office of Johnson Rubber before she started her family. She was a volunteer at Cardinal Music Boosters concession stand at football games. After her children were grown, she worked at McDonald’s in Middlefield for 10 years. She was an avid reader, loving mysteries. She enjoyed family picnics where she reined as the croquet champion many times. She loved to walk with her husband, Gene, around Middlefield or at Swine Creek Park.
Jennie is survived by her husband, Gene; her children, Barbara and Thomas (Jennifer); brothers, John Ricker and Paul Ricker (Martha) and many nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Carl and Ina Ricker; brothers, William and Carl (Al) Ricker; sisters, Shirley Shefchuk and Ann Yuranko; brothers-in-law, Conrad Shefchuk, Carl Yuranko, Elmer Banko, Pete Miller, Glenn Tropf, and Robert Tropf; sisters-in-law, Laverne Banko, Dorothy Miller, and Emily Ricker; nephew Dennis Parton; and niece, Glenna Parton.
Jennie’s family asks friends and family to come remember Jennie on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Swine Creek Park Lodge, 16004 Hayes Road, Middlefield, OH 44062. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Patient Advocate Foundation, 421 Butler Farm Rd., Hampton, VA 23666.
