Jeffrey Edward Gibbs, 66 a lifelong resident of Middlefield, passed away with his family by his side at UH Geauga Medical Center Friday, September 15, 2017. He was born in Chardon on July 22, 1951, son of the late Edward and Charlene (Harrington) Gibbs. After graduating from Cardinal High School, he received his associate degree in accounting at Warren Business School. He married Sue Holloran May 13, 1978. Jeff worked for Myron Gibbs Excavating, Gibbs Excavating, and Gibbs Maintenance Service. He cut, split and sold firewood and mowed lawns. Jeff was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Middlefield; member of the Middlefield Fire Department for 50 years; Historical Engine Society; and was Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop #94. He loved going camping, fishing; gardening, and going on trips to Canada. He especially loved being with his family. Jeff was hardworking, yet relaxed and easy going. He enjoyed life and talking with whomever he met.

He will be missed dearly by his friends and family; his beloved wife Sue of 39 years; his son Scott (Hilary) Gibbs of Clinton Twp., MI; his daughter Holly (Brian) Fritinger of Middlefield; four grandchildren, Scott and Rebecca Fritinger and Konner and Mason Gibbs; his brother Jerry (Kathy) Gibbs and sister Joyce (Carl) Prinkey, both of Middlefield; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister Judy Adams; and his granddaughter Marissa Fritinger.

Calling hours will be 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, September 18, 2017 at Russell-Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 West High St., Middlefield. A Celebration of his Life will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 19 at the funeral home. A private family burial will be held at a later date in Middlefield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions suggested to the First United Methodist Church, PO Box 207, Middlefield, OH 44062.
